Many actors try their luck in the film industry, few succeed, while many are not able to sustain. Sometimes actors make a promising debut and are often touted to be the next big thing, but their popularity soon fizzles out as they get fewer opportunities. Former Tamil actor Hamsavardhan is one of them. He is the son of successful actor Ravichandran. Hamsavardhan decided to follow in his father’s footsteps. He had become quite popular in the early 2000s after debuting in 1999; but in less than a decade, he was out of the film industry, One of his most memorable roles was in the 2002 film Punnagai Desam. He had played the school friend of the protagonist character of Ganesh, played by Tarun.
Now, a recent picture of Hamsavardhan is going viral on social media. The former actor’s last film was in 2007 and he has not been in the limelight since then. Fans have got to see the first glimpse of him ever since he quit films. Hamsavardhan seems to have gained weight, but his eyes still exude the charm and innocence that endeared him to his fans.
Hamshavardhan’s film career started with a spate of shelved as well as failed films.
Hamsavardhan was slated to make his debut in Anandham Anandham, which entered production in 1998. The film faced delays and was eventually released as Vadagupatti Maapillai in 2001. The delay led him to start another project with the same director, VC Guhanathan, titled Mahajithan. Unfortunately, the project failed to materialise. Similarly, another venture titled Vendumadi Nee Yenakku, co-starring Abbas, Karan, and Preetha Vijayakumar, also did not come to fruition. Hamsavardhan’s debut release ended up being Maanaseega Kadhal, in which he played a dual role, but the film fared poorly at the box office. A project named Ammu, where he was paired opposite Abitha, was also shelved during this period. His breakthrough was Punnagai Desam, where, in spite of not playing the lead, he received appreciation.
Hamsavardhan married actress Reshma, his co-star from Vadagupatti Maapillai, who passed away from Covid-19 complications in 2021.
