With just a few days left until the highly anticipated release of Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s film Lal Salaam, the project’s team recently unveiled the official trailer on February 5, generating massive anticipation among fans. Directed by Superstar Rajinikanth’s daughter, Aishwarya, the film marks her comeback as a filmmaker. Starring Vikranth and Vishnu Vishal in the lead roles, Lal Salaam also features Superstar Rajinikanth in an extended cameo. Scheduled to hit theatres on February 9, the film has garnered significant attention for its exploration of a sensitive topic.
The trailer of Lal Salaam presents a gripping storyline intricately woven with cricket. Despite his limited screen time in the trailer, Rajinikanth’s presence leaves a lasting impression, with his impact on the narrative expected to be substantial. The film promises to be a hard-hitting sports drama delivering a vital societal message. Adding to the excitement, former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev is also set to make a cameo in the film. Alongside Vikranth and Vishnu, the supporting cast includes Vignesh, Livingston, Senthil, Jeevitha, KS Ravikumar and Thambi Ramaiah.
However, ahead of its release, Lal Salaam has encountered issues in Kuwait, where it has reportedly been banned. Kuwait has a history of prohibiting films with perceived anti-Muslim content and Lal Salaam, touching upon religious themes, appears to have fallen afoul of these sensitivities. As of now, the production team has yet to issue an official statement addressing the ban in Kuwait.
Lal Salaam has also raised a debate regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in musical composition. AR Rahman, the film’s music director, employed AI technology to recreate the sounds of late playback singers Bamba Bakya and Shamul Hameed for a song in the film. Responding to the controversy, Rahman clarified that the process was conducted with the consent of the late artists’ families, who were duly compensated for their contributions.
As the release date approaches, Lal Salaam continues to captivate audiences with its compelling narrative, stellar cast and innovative use of technology, promising an impactful cinematic experience.
