Priyanka Chopra Slams Journalist for Questioning Her Credentials to Announce Oscar Nominees

Priyanka Chopra Jonas has hit back at an Australian entertainment journalist Peter Ford who questioned the actress and her husband Nick Jonas’ credentials on social media, one day after the couple announced the Oscar nominatios for the 93rd Academy Awards. Ford tweeted that he wasn’t sure as to exactly why the couple was given the honour of announcing Oscar nominees. “No disrespect to these two but I’m not sure their contribution to the movies qualifies them to be announcing Oscar nominees,” Ford tweeted.

In a response to his tweet, Priyanka shared a screenshot of her 60 plus movie credentials on her IMDb page and wrote, “Would love your thoughts on what qualifies someone. Here are my 60+ film credentials for your adept consideration.”

When a user asked Ford to watch Priyanka’s performance in Barfi, Ford seemed to backtrack and replied, “I agree her credits are very extensive and I was not fully aware of that. The contribution to Hollywood is minimal. Still no clarification on what her husbands contribution is. These are the Oscars. This isn’t personal – she’s a very successful and astute woman.”

Priyanka Chopra is a National Film Award-winning actor. She is also a recipient of Padma Shri, which is the fourth-highest civilian award in India. She received the honour for her immense contribution to the Indian cinema. Some of her critically-acclaimed performances include Fashion, Barfi, Bajirao Mastani, Don, Kaminey, Mary Kom, The Sky Is Pink, and The White Tiger, which also received an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 93rd Academy Awards.
