Poonam Pandey passed away on Thursday, February 1. The news of her death was first revealed in a post shared on her official Instagram handle.

A day after Poonam Pandey passed away, her Lock Upp co-star Shivam Sharma has now claimed that the actress reportedly died in Pune. It was earlier said that Pandey was in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh when she collapsed on the night of February 1 and died. However, Shivam’s statement has now left everyone confused.

Shivam Sharma was speaking to Pinkvilla was he expressed shock and disbelief at Pandey’s death and said, “We’ve spent a lot of time together, and all those memories are flashing in front of my eyes. It is quite unbelievable because the reason for death is cancer. Haven’t heard of someone passing away because of cancer. There were no symptoms, and she never mentioned it.”

“A common friend informed me that her mortal remains are in Pune, while her family is in Kanpur. I don’t know how her family will plan the last rites. I want to send a lot of strength to her family,” he added.

Poonam Pandey passed away on Thursday, February 1. The news of her death was first revealed in a post shared on her official Instagram handle. “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared,” the post read.

Several celebrities expressed grief following the death of Pandey. Kangana Ranaut, who hosted Lock Upp, took to her Instagram stories on Friday and wrote, “This is so sad, losing a young woman to cancer is a catastrophe. Om Shanti.” Lock Upp Jailer, Karan Kundrra also told Times Now, “Oh my god! I have no idea about this. How did it happen? It is very sad and heartbreaking news.” Lock Upp winner Munawar Faruqui wrote on X, “Shocking! can’t process the news Poonam was great human being. Sad. RIP.”
