After winning the Palme d'Or at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this year, director Jacques Audiard's film 'Dheepan' featuring Indian actors was screened at the Jio MAMi 17th Mumbai Film Festival on Saturday.
'Dheepan' is about the story of a former soldier, a young woman and a little girl pose as a family in order to escape the civil war in Sri Lanka. They end up settling in a housing project outside Paris. They barely know one another, but try to build a life together.
Kalieaswari Srinivasan who is making her acting debut with this award winning film shared her experience of working with Jacques and her thoughts on the topic, with CNN-IBN.
According to her, "Jacques has a very unique way of making his actors work. Every day we knew what shots are to be done, but nobody used to know how."
While 'Dheepan' saw an over whelming response at it's Indian premier, the box office release seems very difficult because of it's sensitive topic.
