Ranveer, who has shared screen space with the "Welcome" actor in Zoya Akhtar's 'Dil Dhadakne Do', thanked the senior actor.
"Thanks AK! Was hoping I could make you proud. Great seeing you last night... Congrats on winning the award for DDD!," the 30-year-old tweeted.
Anil on Monday won the Stardust Award for Best Supporting Actor - Male for 'Dil Dhadakne Do', in which he played father to Ranveer and Priyanka Chopra.
