'Have Seen The Ugly Side': Kangana Ranaut On Her Journey In Bollywood
In an old interview, the actress recalled her journey in the film industry and the hardships she faced.

Bollywood queen Kangana Ranaut, known for her iconic and outspoken roles, recently opened up about the hardships she faced on her journey to stardom in a candid interview. From her humble beginnings to her rise in Bollywood, Kangana has never shied away from speaking her mind.

Having dreamt of becoming an actress since childhood, Kangana took bold steps to pursue her aspirations. Leaving her home at just 15, she ventured into the world of modelling at 16, determined to turn her dreams into reality. Reflecting on her journey, Kangana shared, “Mine has been a journey of a thousand miles. I didn’t fly first class into Mumbai. I have travelled in buses, taxis and trains and even walked a lot. I have slept on the pavement since I didn’t have a house.”

Recalling the challenges she faced in the film industry, Kangana revealed that she had experienced the harsh realities of the industry firsthand. “I have seen the ugly side,” she stated, highlighting the struggles she encountered as a small-town girl navigating the complexities of Mumbai.

Despite the obstacles, Kangana emphasised that she has utilised her experiences to make a difference and carve her path in Bollywood. “Everything that worked against me initially has turned in my favour,” she remarked, acknowledging the resilience that has propelled her forward.

Notably, Kangana also addressed instances of physical abuse she endured, including an incident at a book launch event hosted by Barkha Dutt, where she encountered an industry figure much older than her father. While she refrained from naming the individual or delving into further details, Kangana’s revelation shed light on the darker aspects of the industry.

Looking ahead, Kangana is set to portray the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, in the biographical film titled Emergency, which she is directing herself. The star-studded cast of the film includes Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry and Milind Soman.
