Fact Check: Deepika Padukone And Ranveer Singh Sharing Sonogram of Their First Baby Is A Fake Picture
A photo of a couple, purportedly to be Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, is going viral on social media.

After Rashmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt and Nora Fatehi’s deepfake videos went viral, there was widespread outcry about the misuse of technology and the absence of proper legal safeguards that have allowed such harmful use of artificial intelligence (AI) to flourish. And now, parents-to-be Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have become victims of the menace sweeping the industry.

A photo of a couple, purportedly to be Deepika and Ranveer, is going viral on social media. In the picture, the mom-to-be is holding a polaroid of an ultrasound, a popular way to announce pregnancy, and she bears a resemblance to Deepika, courtesy her dimples and the strategically obscured face in the photo. The dad-to-be is facing away from the camera, and his face isn’t visible.

However, a fact check had confirmed that the people in the photos aren’t actually Deepika and Ranveer. It turns out the original photo is of Halime Kucuk, who announced her pregnancy on X on May 13. Check out the original photo here:

Mom-to-be Deepika Padukone was recently spotted with her actor-husband Ranveer Singh in Mumbai when she hit the camera and walked away. The clip went viral in no time. Meanwhile, earlier this month, Ranveer Singh caught attention by deleting his wedding photos and other posts from Instagram. This action led to speculation about problems in his marriage with Deepika. It’s uncertain if Ranveer permanently removed the photos or just archived them. Nonetheless, a source close to the couple revealed that they’re doing well and eagerly anticipating their first child. Recently, they returned from a romantic trip, though the destination remains undisclosed.

Later, Ranveer put an end to the rumours by showing off his wedding ring at an event. In an interview with Vogue India during the launch of Tiffany & Co. in Mumbai, he was asked about his favourite piece of jewellery. Ranveer revealed that his wedding and engagement rings, given by Deepika Padukone, are his most treasured possessions.

The two announced their pregnancy in February this year when Deepika shared an adorable poster with “September 2024” written on it. The poster also had children’s clothes, toys and balloons as the border. Deepika and Ranveer have been married for over five years now.

On the work front, Deepika has a number of projects in her pipeline. She will soon be sharing the screen with Prabhas in Kalki 2989 AD.
