Die-hard Coldplay fans in India are still recovering from the nightmare of not getting tickets. Three concerts were announced in Mumbai and all three were sold out in the matter of hours. As heartbroken fans tend to their wounds of missing out on tickets, a second-hand ticketing website has already got several users putting their tickets up for sale. A scalping platform named Viagogo, which is a renowned secondary ticket marketplace, has several Coldplay tickets up for grabs but for insane prices.
News18 Showsha visited Viagogo’s Coldplay tickets page and noticed that tickets that were originally costing Rs 4,000 are being resold for Rs 778,952 per ticket by an user. Another user is reselling tickets origianlly costing Rs 12,500 for Rs 1.21 lakhs. The lounge tickets, originally priced at Rs 35,000, are being resold for Rs 1.01 lakhs. A lounge ticket worth Rs 270,575 was allegedly sold on the platform this morning. News18 Showsha couldn’t verify the claims at the time of reporting.
BookMyShow addressed the resale of the Coldplay tickets in India and reminded users that scalping is illegal in India. “It has come to our attention that unauthorised platforms are listing tickets for Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India, both before and after the official sale. These tickets are invalid,” the post read.
“Ticket scalping is illegal in India and punishable by law. Please don’t fall prey to this because you will be buying fake tickets. Avoid scams! BookMyShow is the only official platform for ticket sales,” they added.
A BookMyShow rep also told ANI, “We implemented a queueing system to manage the overwhelming demand and addressed issues caused by suspicious and malicious traffic within minutes, causing a brief delay, but ensuring minimal disruption for genuine fans. Due to the unprecedented demand, a third Mumbai show was added shortly thereafter, which also received a fantastic response.”
Meanwhile, fans are hoping to try their luck again in November as BookMyShow Live had previously revealed that Coldplay will be floating Infinity Tickets.
What Are Infinity Tickets?
Infinity Tickets are released for every Coldplay show to make the Music Of The Spheres World Tour accessible to fans for an affordable price. They will cost the local currency equivalent of €20 (INR 2000) per ticket and must be bought in pairs.
The platform added that the tickets are restricted to a maximum of two tickets per purchaser and must be bought in pairs (which will be located next to each other). Locations will be revealed when fans pick up their tickets in person at the box office on the day of the show and can be throughout the venue from the floor to the upper levels, side view seats, and everywhere in between.
Coldplay will be performing in Mumbai on January 18, January 19 and January 21, 2025.
