If you are a movie enthusiast, then be sure to catch any ongoing film at your nearest multiplex on May 31 at just Rs 99. Yes, on May 31, all chains of multiplexes across India will offer film tickets at just Rs 99 to celebrate Cinema Lover’s Day. This initiative by the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) applies to over 4,000 screens nationwide, including major chains like PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis. The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) is a nationwide group founded in 2002 under FICCI by leading cinema operators. This has been done to boost footfall at the cinemas, after a dismal performance of many films during the first quarter of the year. The limited release of Hollywood films and the ongoing Lok Sabha elections have also further dampened ticket sales.

Booking your Rs 99 movie ticket is simple. You can use online platforms such as BookMyShow, PayTM, Amazon Pay, or the cinema chain’s official website. Note that this offer is not applicable to premium formats like IMAX and recliners, but it covers all movies and showtimes. Be aware that the Rs 99 ticket price does not include convenience fees and GST, which are usually added during the online booking process. To avoid these extra charges, consider buying your tickets directly at the cinema counter.
Films that are already running at the theatres which you can watch for Rs 99 include Bhaiyya Ji, Srikanth and the Hollywood film Furiosa while new releases on Friday include Mr and Mrs Mahi Gangs of Godavari, Chotta Bheem and the Curse of Damyaan, and Haikyuu the Dumpster Battle.
There is considerable anticipation for the film Mr and Mrs Mahi, which stars Rajkumar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor. Rajkumar Rao’s another film Srikanth is already running successfully in theatres.
