CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification aka the Censor Board) is at it, again! The board, which continues to create troubles for filmmakers by asking them to incorporate changes that they aren’t clearly comfortable with, is making headlines, again. This time around, CBFC has demanded the makers of Noor to delete the banned word Dalit, and also eliminate all references to the community as it makes the reference to the caste system so stark.
So yes, the word ‘Dalit’ has been muted each time it occurs in the film. In addition to this, the reference to the word “sex toy” has been found contentious too. It has now been substituted with “adult site”.
Makers were also asked to beep references to a senior journalist in the film.
The movie, which is an adaptation of Saba Imtiaz’s novel Karachi, I Love You features Sonakshi in the role of a journalist.
Certified U/A, the film will hit the theatres on April 21.
