In an emotional moment on Bigg Boss 18, actress Shilpa Shirodkar opened up about the personal battles she faced after losing both her parents in 2008. Known for her successful Bollywood career in the ’90s, Shilpa revealed that she went into severe depression after the tragic loss.
During an emotional conversation with fellow contestant Gunaratna Sadavarte in the October 8 episode, Shilpa broke down while recalling her struggles. She revealed that her husband, Apresh Ranjit, became her pillar of strength during that difficult time. “When my parents passed away in 2008, I went into severe depression. Aparesh was doing so well in his career, but he left everything, and we moved to India,” she shared, visibly emotional. She added that had Aparesh not made that sacrifice, his career in the banking industry could have reached greater heights.
The conversation took a reflective turn when Gunaratna praised Shilpa’s acting journey, comparing her potential to that of icons like Madhuri Dixit. He said that she had to step away from her flourishing career, saying, “You were one of the few actresses who could have risen to the same level as Madhuri. But suddenly, you decided to quit the industry.”
Shilpa responded with grace, acknowledging the unexpected turns her life took but expressing no regrets. “Par naseeb naseeb ki baat hai, and I don’t regret anything,” she said.
Gunaratna also added that while she may not regret her decision, her fans missed her presence on screen.
For the unversed, Shilpa has acted in several films and television shows, including Silsila Pyaar Ka and Savitri Devi College & Hospital. Her return to Indian TV via Bigg Boss 18 marks a significant comeback after years spent away from the limelight.
