Irrfan Khan will forever be cherished as a legendary figure in Bollywood. His passing on April 29, 2020, after a prolonged battle with cancer, left an irreplaceable void in the film industry and in the hearts of his fans. He was 53. Whether portraying Pi Patel in Life Of Pi or Rana in Piku, he exuded brilliance both in Bollywood and Hollywood. Following in his footsteps is his son, Babil Khan, has showcased his acting talent in films like Qala and The Railway Men. Babil often speaks fondly about his deep affection for his father, how his father’s influence has shaped his life, and the valuable lessons he has learned from the gifted actor.
A day after Irrfan Khan’s fourth death anniversary, Babil took to Instagram to post a heartwarming post about him and director Homi Adajania. He wrote, “Today is going to be about baba: His teaching: true friendship is the great equaliser of pride, no formidable demon of superbia can survive the piercing love of a true friendship. I remember that there were very few people in the end that made baba laugh like Homi and I guess that is the greatest gift of all, laughter.”
Homi took to the comments section to write, “Remembering the love”. Interestingly, Homi Adajania’s Angrezi Medium was the last film Irrfan starred in. He played the role of Champak Bansal, father to a teenage girl who, after her graduation, wishes to go to London.
Babil also shared photos of Irrfan and wrote a note on his teachings about laughter. He wrote, “Something more about laughter that he taught me: Laughter is precisely the soul of all existence, the instant you lose your ability to laugh or are unable to find a pathway to bring the joy of laughter to your flow of life, you then suddenly have become ‘serious’ and by serious what I mean to say is that you have perchance in that moment have started to take yourself seriously. Your job is not to succeed, but to live, whatever the wind brings to you. So stop trying to achieve and start trying to celebrate the joy of what you love doing.”
Recently, days ahead of Irrfan’s fourth death anniversary, he posted a few photos of the late Bollywood actor along with a heartfelt note, promising never to give up. Babil wrote how his father showed him how to be strong yet kind, to never lose hope, and to stand up for others.
