Actor Ameesha Patel, renowned for her role in the blockbuster film Gadar 2, shared intriguing insights into the filmmaking process. Patel revealed that she and the film’s lead star, Sunny Deol, played pivotal, hands-on roles, akin to “semi ghost directors,” in shaping the final version of Gadar 2. Despite the official directorial credit going to Anil Sharma, Patel suggested that Deol and she were instrumental in making necessary adjustments to elevate the film’s quality.
In a candid interview, Ameesha disclosed, “A lot of corrections were made in Gadar 2 by Sunny Deol and me to make it what it was.” She indicated that the collaborative effort extended to extensive editing and reshooting, ensuring the film met their high standards. Although the process involved “a lot of arguments with our director,” it was this dedication and commitment from the actors that contributed significantly to the film’s ultimate success on the big screen.
She told Bollywood Hungama, “There were a lot of corrections made in Gadar 2 by Sunny and me to make it what it was because it was being steered in a direction that we were unhappy with. We did a lot of reshoots for it and a lot of editing on our part.” She added that there was a lot of “creative discomfort that Sunny and I both had, and the journey was not an easy one. We both did a lot of editing, reshooting.”
She added, “Sunny and me were almost like semi ghost directors on that.” She then said that she and Sunny had a lot of creative input in the scenes, songs and even the choreography. She added, “There was another hidden agenda that was with Mr Anil Sharma. He was deviating from making Gadar.”
Ameesha Patel, famous for her role in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, recently shed light on a pivotal behind-the-scenes influence that saved Gadar 2 from potential disaster. She credited her business partner, Kunal Goomer, for his critical intervention during the film’s production. According to Patel, the film was veering off course and “actually going very wrong,” until Goomer’s artistic insights and guidance brought it back on track. She emphasized that without Kunal’s timely input, Gadar 2 “was actually going to be ‘gutter’.” She further explained that Kunal had to bring the issues to Sunny Deol’s attention, urging him to make necessary corrections during the action schedule.
Looking ahead to Gadar 3, Ameesha remains uncertain about her participation but has clear conditions for her return. She stated that she will only join the project if her character, Sakeena, shares ample screen time with Sunny Deol’s character, Tara, as their dynamic is central to the franchise’s appeal. Ameesha also noted that despite the storyline progression hinting at their on-screen son’s marriage, she is firm in her stance against playing a mother-in-law role on screen.
