Alia Bhatt, who made her Bollywood debut in 2012, has established herself as a versatile actor over the years. In a recent cover interview, she candidly shared her struggles with body image issues after entering the film industry. Despite losing weight, Alia revealed that she was constantly self-critical and felt insecure about her appearance, reflecting on the pressures that come with being in the spotlight.
In an interview with Allure Magazine, Alia Bhatt reflected on her early days in the film industry. She shared that she was a chubby, healthy child who felt confident about her appearance at the time. However, her outlook changed dramatically once she entered the profession. Alia Bhatt revealed, “I have struggled with body-image issues since then. No matter how much weight I lost, I always struggled. My friends would say, ‘Alia, you need to stop dieting. Just be calm, live a little, eat some food.’ And I used to be like, Once a fat kid, always a fat kid. I used to say that in my head, no matter how much weight I lost.”
Alia Bhatt’s perspective on her body underwent a significant transformation during her pregnancy. She expressed that she developed a deep appreciation for her body and became fascinated by its capabilities. This realisation led her to embrace a more positive outlook, deciding that, despite the demands of her profession, she would no longer criticise her appearance or worry about extra weight or a bloated belly.
Alia Bhatt also shared her opinion on what she thinks is true beauty. She told the portal, “Beauty is truly what you perceive of yourself. When they say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, that’s one way to look at it. But I genuinely feel beauty really lies within the eyes of yourself…. The way you perceive yourself is the way you project.”
On the professional front, Alia Bhatt is set to star in Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala. The film explores the emotional bond between a brother and sister. It highlights a sister’s unwavering love for her brother and her determination to protect him at all costs. The movie also features Vedang Raina and is scheduled to hit theatres on October 11.
