IMDb released a list of the most popular Indian celebs this week. Sonakshi Sinha, Taha Saha Badussha, Aditi Rai Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal from Heeramandi appeared on the list. But do you know who topped the list?
16-year-old Laapataa Ladies star Nitanshi Goel has bagged the first position. IMDb shared the list on its official Instagram handle. The caption reads, “This list is powered by ‘Popular Indian Celebrities’: a weekly IMDb feature that showcases the Indian stars trending globally: actors, directors, cinematographers, writers—the list covers it all! And, as always, it’s determined by more than 200 million fans monthly from around the globe!” Take a look at the post:
The actress responded to IMDb’s Instagram post by writing, “I am beyond grateful. This is huge for me. Thank You, IMDb.”
Fans also responded to the post. One remarked, “The role belonged to her.” A second one stated, “@nitanshigoelofficial is one of this generation’s most brilliant actors.”
Nitanshi Goel is one of the brilliant Indian teen actresses and social media influencer who has worked in popular films such as Masoom Sawaal (2022), M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016) and Indu Sarkar (2017), as well as television programs such as Inside Edge (2017) and Thapki Pyar Ki (2015). Her other film credits include Posham Pa (2019), Hurdang (2022), and Peshwa Bajirao (2017).
Nitanshi has more than 10 million Instagram followers, making her the youngest Indian actress with such a large fan base.
Aside from acting, she is also a skilled Kathak dancer, and also other dance forms including hip-hop, classical and contemporary. She was the face of Super Dancer 3.
She was recently seen in the film Laapataa Ladies. It is a comedy-drama film directed by Kiran Rao and produced jointly by Rao, Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande. It stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan in the lead roles.
Laapataa Ladies tells the story of two young brides who get lost during a train ride. It opened to positive reviews from critics and the audience and was praised for its story, screenplay, and cast performances.
