The Hindu calendar refers to Sawan month as the time of Lord Shiva. It will start after Ashadh Purnima this year. The first date of Sawan is Pratipada of Krishna Paksha. People perform various rituals during this month. Sawan Monday Fast, Managal Gauri Vrat and Sawan Shrivratri are some of the important practices and periods during this month. The entire month of Sawan is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. Fasting on Mondays is considered highly auspicious by the Hindu devotees. This year in 2024, the month of Sawan will start on Monday and will end on Monday. Dr Ganesh Mishra, the astrologer of Central Sanskrit University, Puri, lists out the dates and timings of Sawan Shivratri, Mangala Gauri Vrat and Sawan Month.
The month of Sawan will start from Monday, July 22. According to the Panchang, the Pratipada date of Krishna Paksha of the month of Sawan will start from 03:46 pm on Sunday, July 21. Dr Ganesh Mishra claimed that this date will be valid till 01:11 pm on Monday, July 22. Based on the sunrise, the month of Sawan will start from July 22. The month of Sawan will start with Preeti Yoga and Shravan Nakshatra.
This year, there will be five Monday fasts in Sawan also called Somwar Vrats. The first Monday fast of Sawan will be on July 22, while the fifth and last Monday fast of Sawan will be on August 19.

Third Sawan Monday Fast: August 5
Fourth Sawan Monday fast: August 12
Fifth Sawan Monday fast: August 19
Dr Ganesh Acharya claims that this year there will be four Mangala Gauri fasts in Sawan. The first Mangala Gauri Vrat is on July 23 and the last Mangala Gauri Vrat is on August 13.

Third Mangala Gauri Vrat: August 6
Fourth Mangala Gauri Vrat: August 13
This year, Sawan Shivratri will be celebrated on Friday, August 2. According to the Vedic calendar, Sawan Krishna Chaturdashi Tithi will start at 03:26 PM on Friday, August 2 and will end at 03:50 PM on Saturday, August 3.
