Five Signs That Indicate You Have a Slow Metabolism
If you find yourself longing for sugary foods and food with high carbohydrates, then it is a sign that your metabolism is losing its efficiency.

Metabolism helps the body to burn the gained calories and turns it into energy for all regular bodily functions. This process is of an adaptive nature. This means that based on your consumption of food, your metabolism adapts itself. It can go from being slow to efficient and vice-versa. When your metabolism is sluggish, it poses a threat to your overall health as your body’s ability to absorb nutrients and churn out energy becomes limited. Those who have a good metabolism can consume more food and still don’t gain weight.

It is advised to detect metabolism before it does irreversible damage to your health. Nutritionist Nicky Sagar, in a recent Instagram post, shared the signs that indicate a slow metabolism in your body.

As explained by Sagar, the signs that you have a slow metabolism are as follows:

  1. Weight gainUnexplained weight gain is one of the initial signs of slow metabolism. This makes it difficult to lose weight, even if you are indulging in regular exercise.
  2. FatigueFeeling tired without doing any strenuous physical activity is another prominent sign.
  3. Hair LossIf you are losing your hair, it directly points to the fact that your metabolism is not as efficient as it used to be.
  4. Persisting ConstipationFeeling constipated and not being able to relieve yourself is a problem that affects the digestive system if not paid heed to at the early stages.
  5. Sugar and Carbs CravingIf you find yourself longing for sugary foods and food with high carbohydrates, then it is a sign that your metabolism is losing its efficiency.

Sagar, in the caption accompanying the clip, also advises against following “quick fix diets” such as Keto and Cleanse diet since it tricks your metabolism into thinking that you are in low requirement of nutrients. And hence, it slows down on its own.

What's your reaction?
