The National Capital got into the depth of the vibrant Kazakh music when musicians gathered to celebrate the Day of the First President of Kazakhstan on Saturday. Composer Tolegen Mukhamejanov, opera singer Nurzhamal Ussenbayeva and soloist Sundet Baigozhin enthralled the audience with their soulful renditions. The event organised by the Embassy of Kazakhstan was called Rukhani Zhangyru.
In his welcoming speech, Bulat Sarsenbayev, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to India, informed the audience about the exceptional role of the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev in the establishment of an independent Kazakhstan. He also spoke about the contribution of Nazarbayev’s international initiatives in strengthening international peace and security.
Tolegen Mukhamejanov, also known as Jean Luna in the world of music, presented some of his new compositions. Nurzhamal Ussenbayeva and Sundet Baigozhin weaved the folklores of Kazakhstan in their music. Listeners were treated to songs such as II bacio, Alqonyr and Kozimnin qarasy.
While Nurzhamal and Sundet performed Giuseppe Verdi's opera Brindisi, Sundet alone performed My Way by Frank Sinatra.
The festive atmosphere of the event was complemented by some exotic Kazakh dishes.
