AICW 2015: Aishwarya Rai returns to the ramp after 5 years, stuns the crowd in Manish Malhotra's creation

New Delhi: A thing of beauty is a joy forever. This verse by John Keats stands true for the most beautiful woman on earth - Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

She never fails to impress us with her charisma, be it on the Cannes red carpet or any runway. And as she walked the ramp for designer Manish Malhotra at the Amazon India Fashion Week 2015 grand finale, the 40-year-old left everyone gasping for breath as she strolled like an empress in the majestic creation by the couturier.

Manish’s collection titled as ‘The Empress Story’ was magnificent and every design showcased by the models on the runway was opulent to the core. The elaborate detailing on the lehengas and gowns were awe-inspiring and the models looked every inch the empresses in the new collection.

“It’s always a pleasure to wear Manish Malhotra’s creation. His designs are a visual delight. We first met in 1992 and since then I have seen him grow as a designer. Every year before his show, he used to call me up asking me to be a part of it and finally I decided to walk for him after 5 years,” Aishwarya told press after the show.

The actress was apparently down with viral fever but she still flew down to Delhi for the show. “I have been unwell and I was really scared how was I going to look on the ramp because of the viral, but thanks to my friend Mickey Contractor, it is because of him I look the way I should be looking,” she added.

The show was attended by Bollywood beauties including Shabana Azmi, Kriti Shanon, Sophie Choudry and Aditi Rao Hydari. Wrestler Vijender Singh was also snapped in the front row. Aishwarya’s mother-in-law Jaya Bachchan also came to cheer for daughter-in-law.
