Fans of South Korean drama were thrilled after an official announcement by SM Entertainment on January 3 that confirmed that EXO’s Suho is all set to grace the screen alongside Hong Ye-ji in the highly anticipated MBN drama, The Crown Prince Has Disappeared (tentative title). It is a historical romantic comedy, set against the backdrop of the Joseon era, and promises an intriguing narrative that intertwines love, suspense, and some royal drama. It is being created by the seasoned directors Kim Ji Soo and Park Chul, renowned for their contributions to the hit drama Bossam: Steal the Fate.

The storyline of The Crown Prince Has Disappeared revolves around a crown prince who finds himself abducted by the woman who is set to marry him. As the two protagonists are on the run for their lives, an unexpected romance blossoms between them, adding a unique layer to the historical genre.

Suho, recognised for his acting finesse displayed in previous projects like the musical Mozart and the popular drama Behind Your Touch, plays the role of the kidnapped crown prince, Lee Geon in the upcoming drama. Audiences can anticipate an excellent performance as Suho brings his versatility to the character, promising to reveal a side of him not seen before, reports Soompi.

Apart from his acting career, Suho is also a popular singer and songwriter. He is the leader of the South Korean-Chinese boy group Exo and its sub-unit Exo-K.

Choi Myeong-yoon, according to the drama’s plot, is the famous daughter of Sang-rok Choi. In addition to her lively appearance, she will show off her versatility by showing off her outstanding skills in horseback riding and medicine.

Before this work, Hong Ye-ji will also be seen in the KBS 2TV drama Fantasy Sonata, as Yeon-wol, the main character of the show.

Apart from the duo, the cast of The Crown Prince Has Disappeared also includes Kim Min Kyu, reportedly in talks to portray Prince Dosung, the eldest son of King Haejong’s second wife, embroiled in a complex love triangle with Lee Geon and Choi Myung Yoon. Actresses Myung Se Bin and Yoo Se Rye round out the ensemble, their roles enhancing the richness of the narrative, reports Soompi.

Scheduled for a premiere in the first half of 2024, The Crown Prince Has Disappeared holds the promise of being a visual and narrative spectacle.
