YSRC not to take active part in Telangana March

The YSR Congress Party has reportedly decided to remain neutral on the state bifurcation issue for now so as to avoid any internal trouble.

The party's decision comes in the wake of the repercussions in the Telugu Desam caused by its president Chandrababu Naidu's letter to the Prime Minister seeking an all-party meeting on the Telangana issue.

After the Congress and the TDP landed in trouble for their 'yes and no' stand on the issue, YSRCP leaders felt they would be better off, even in the Telangana region, if they did not take any decision on the Telangana issue.

Accordingly, the YSRCP directed its Telangana leaders not to take active part in the Telangana March on September 30.

YSRCP spokesperson Gattu Ramachandar Rao told Express that the party will only make its stance clear after the UPA government makes an announcement on the issue.

He, however, said the party has sympathy for the Telangana region.

"If all the political parties are ready to bring pressure on the Centre to take a decision on the recommendations of the Srikrishna Committee and resolve the issue, we too will go along," he said.

The party had been maintaing that it was not in a position to either bring Telangana or to prevent its creation.

YSRC leaders observed that it was the right time for Centre to take a decison on the recommendations of Justice Srikrishna committee.

They recalled that the committee was appointed after taking a decision at allparty meeting
