BANGALORE: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa declared that the BJP will not resort to "Operation Lotus" a covert exercise to lure Opposition MLAs in to the BJP ranks what with the government enjoying comfortable majority after the return of 11 MLAs following the Supreme Court nullified their disqualification.
"There is no need for such exercises anymore. There is political stability and numerically the BJP enjoys majority in the Assembly. We will concentrate on how to give more fillip and dynamism to development," the chief minister said, while participating in the "meet the press" programme organised jointly by the Bangalore Press Club on Monday. He said that in future he will take steps to penetrate deeper into rural areas to provide basic infrastructure, while denying that this was aimed at preparing the party for the snap polls.

"I will complete five years and in the remaining two years my focus and thrust will be to ensure education to all the people in rural areas and ensure wholesome development of the state without discrimination," Yeddyurappa said.

When asked how he rates himself for his performance, Yeddyurappa said, "It is your [media] job." He added, "If the Opposition parties had cooperated a little bit, I could have done much better; I still have the satisfaction of achieving something substantial."

The CM, however, was evasive on a question about the future of Governor. "The Centre, which is aware of the happenings, will take appropriate steps," he said. ENS
