Woman kills son, commits suicide over family dispute

A young woman allegedly killed her three-year-old son before committing suicide in Muhara village under Jakhaura police station area in Lalitpur over a family tension, police said on Monday.

Preeti fed poison to her son and two-month-old daughter and later consumed it herself on Sunday night.

When Preeti's husband reached home, he rushed the trio to a community health centre with the help of villagers where the woman and the son later died.

The daughter, who is serious, has been shifted to the district hospital, police said, adding that family tension is said to have driven her to take the extreme step.
