BANGALORE: A last ditch attempt was made by the advocate of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa before the latter surrendered and remanded in judicial custody till October 22.As Yeddyurappa appeared before the court, his counsel Ravi B Naik requested the court to withdraw the arrest warrant issued against him, to which the judge agreed. Naik also appealed to the court to direct jail authorities to give proper medical aid to Yeddyurappa and judge N K Sudheendra Rao directed the prison authorities to provide necessary medical assistance to the accused.The advocate also informed the court that sections of electronic media were airing false news that his client was absconding and tried to project him in a bad light. He also informed the court that the High Court had found the complainant Sirajin Basha showing disrespect to the court amount to contempt of court. Later, the judge remanded Yeddyurappa to judicial custody till October 22 and asked Lokayukta DySP Prasanna V Raju to escort the accused to prison.
