New Delhi: A day after DJB reported an "acute drop" in the water level of Wazirabad pond, its chairman Kapil Mishra on Friday said the supply is "normal" and all the water treatment plants are functioning with full capacity. Mishra, the Delhi Water Minister also said the WTPs are registering a record production of 900 MGD.
The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had in a statement on Thursday reported an "acute drop" in the water level of Wazirabad pond and "reduced" supply in carrier lined channel, and urged residents of several parts of the city to store adequate water.
Lutyens' Delhi, north Delhi, north-west Delhi, central Delhi, and parts of south and west Delhi were expected to be hit by the reduced water supply.
Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Friday wrote an 'open' letter to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claiming that Delhi is going to face an "acute shortage" of water in coming days.
"Uttarakhand will stop supply of water to Delhi from May 8 from Tehri Dam reservoir which will lead to a complete shut down of Sonia Vihar in Delhi," he wrote in his letter. He also alleged that Delhi government was "intentionally" trying to create a "water crisis" so that it could "blame" the Centre for the problem.
However, Mishra said, Gupta is indulging in "petty politics", adding, Delhi is getting good cooperation from Haryana and UP which were supplying water as per the Supreme Court directions.
