About 100 people in Kottaiyur under Kolathur panchayat union had taken ill following water contamination and some of them had been admitted to various hospitals with complaints of diarrhoea, Deputy Director of Health Dr Jagadesh Kumar said.
Rajammal, who was shifted to the GH here after undergoing treatment in a hospital in Mettur, died last night without responding to treatment.
Two other women had been admitted to private hospitals here, Kumar said adding special teams with two doctors two nurses and five health assistants had been sent to the affected area.
