More than half of the voters in Phase II, which will decide the fate of the Rabri Devi have not voted.

Patna: Nearly 45 per cent of the electorates have cast their votes in the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections.

Prominent among those whose fates will be decided in this phase include former chief minister Rabri Devi (Raghopur) and former speaker and Bihar Congress president Sadanand Singh (Kahalgaon).

Meanwhile in Raghopur's Pakauli village a person carrying a toy pistol was shot dead by the BSF personnel who mistook him for a booth capturer.

In all 1.27 crore voters will decide the fate of 492 candidates, including 186 independents and 40 women, in 13,992 polling booths spread across 11 districts.

According to Bihar Chief Election Officer NK Sinha over 60,000 personnel and officers of Central Para Military Force (CPMF) jawans are covering almost 90 per cent of the booths.

Four IAF choppers are also being used for aerial surveillance.

About 5,000 digital cameras have been installed to prevent bogus voting and detect any irregularity, especially in those polling booths not manned by the CPMF.

Additional Director General of Police Abhayanand said the state's borders with Nepal and West Bengal have been sealed to check the influx of troublemakers.
