HYDERABAD: As reported by Express, Pulivendula MLA Y S Vijayamma, widow of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, moved a writ petition in the AP High Court seeking a full-fledged CBI enquiry into the wealth amassed by TDP president Chandrababu Naidu. The petition runs into 85 pages, and is supported by 2400 pages of material. It is likely to take the High Court registry will take some time to go through it. The petition contends that former CM Naidu is worth Rs 2000-3000 crore. It says that this wealth was amassed -- in his name and in the name of his family and by way of benami transactions -- by misuse of office. The petitioner makes references to alleged connections between Naidu and Ramoji Film City, the Reliance group of Industries, the Heritage Company, huge tracts of land in Nellore district and at Hi-Tec City in Madhapur. This is not the first time that such allegations have been made against Naidu.Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had made similar allegations against when he was leader of the Opposition and had filed a writ petition to press for the governor’s permission to prosecute Naidu. The High Court dismissed that petition stating that there could be no writ compelling the Governor to act in a certain manner. Vijayamma’s petition throws up an interesting question for the High Court.Last year, it took up as a writ petition a letter written by P Shankar Rao levelling allegations against Vijayamma’s son Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.Similar allegations by minister Shankar Rao against two of his cabinet colleagues were deemed to merit a CBI inquiry by a single judge but not so by a two-judge bench. Reacting to Vijayamma’s petition, TDP leader P Keshav said, “It’s not a public interest petition, but a personal interest petition.”
