Victory for the tribal community

CHENNAI: “Historic verdict.” Those two words summed up the mood of the victims and the people after the Vachathi case judgment on Thursday. The 19-year-old struggle having come to an end, villagers and  victims took out an impromptu rally from the court premises to the  Dharmapuri bus stand to thank the judiciary. They raised slogans hailing the verdict. The victims said the judgment pronounced by the Dharmapuri District Court has protected the innocent tribals. It was a victory not just for the Vachathi villagers but for the tribal community as a whole. However, villagers said despite their victory, the nightmarish incident would remain etched in their memory forever.Harur MLA Dillibabu, who led the fight for justice, said, “It’s a historic verdict.
