NAMAKKAL: Preliminary inquiries revealed that it was the van driver’s fault that led to the mishap, which claimed the lives of the 13 persons.The driver, while trying to overtake a lorry on his left, collided with the bus which was coming from the opposite direction. “An inquiry is being conducted to ascertain the cause of the accident. It is believed that the driver had committed the mistake,” Superintendent of Police M Sathia Priya said.One of the victims, Rajeshwari, was an employee of the Erode District Collectorate. She had been working in the Small Savings Department, an official said.Preliminary inquiries revealed that another victim, Satheeshkumar, got married recently. All the injured were admitted to hospitals in Rasipuram and Salem.
