TP Murder: Three nabbed for links with plotters

KOZHIKODE:  The Special Investigation Team probing the murder of RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan on Wednesday took three persons into custody, who reportedly have close links with the conspirators of the killing.Police sources said Asokan, Manoj and Sumohan were  picked up from their residences at Valayam near Nadapuram. All the three reportedly have criminal background and had served imprisonment several times. They are suspected to have links with the quotation gangs in Chokli and nearby areas.  More persons also were reportedly taken into custody but the police did not reveal the progress of the probe.  DGP Jacob Punnoose visited Onchiyam area and held a high-level meeting of the SIT on Wednesday. He also visited Vallikadu, the spot where Chandrasekharan was hacked to death, and his residence at Nellacheri in Onchiyam along with ADGP Crime Winson M Paul, AIG Anoop Kuruvila John and other investigating officers in the team.     Speaking to mediapersons here,  Jacob Punnoose said  the culprits behind the murder   have been identified. At present police have been trying to find out who asked them to execute the crime. He said the progress in the probe could not be divulged as it will affect the investigation. Police were conducting a comprehensive and impartial inquiry into the incident. He refused to say  whether it was a political murder.“The Special Investigation Team is making all efforts to nab those behind the murder. The inquiry is moving in the right direction,”  he added.   Government Chief Whip P C George also visited the house of  Chandrasekharan on Wednesday.
