Meet twins R Meena and R Veena, who scored 486 to grab the second spot in the SSLC examinations with regard to Puducherry government schools. Their marks in individual subjects though turned out to be different.Students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kadirkamam, they worked hard but didn’t expected such good results, adding quickly that they were never in competition with each other. While Meena got 96 in Tamil, Veena got 97. In English, Meena got 97 while Veena got 95; in Maths Meena got 99 and Veena bettered it by scoring 100. In Science Meena secured 97 while Veena got 96 and in Social Science Meena got 97 while Veena secured 98.Their father N Raghunath works with a security agency while mother Latha is a homemaker. According to Raghunath, Meena wants to be a doctor while Veena aims to become a software engineer.Naraya Stephen of Thiru Vi Ka Government High School was the topper among the government schools with 493 marks. Subasri of Thiruvalluvar Government Girls Higher Secondary School and P Durga of Kariakal TR Pattinam Government Girls High School came third with 485 marks.Incidentally, Naraya Stephen shared the second spot in Puducherry and Karaikal regions with Subalakshmi of Vivekananda HSS, Sellperumalpet securing the first spot in the combined government and private school toppers’ list. Subalakshmi also shared the second rank in the overall Tamil Nadu list.Stephen said he would opt for the Biology stream in plus two and aim to crack the civil services. Venkatesh N (493 marks) of Sri Annai Rani Convent HSS, Katterikuppam and Sivaranjini K (493 marks) of Seventh Day Adventist HSS shared the second spot along with Stephen. Suganthi K of Vivekananda HSS, Sellaperumalpet with 492 marks stood third in the combined toppers list for government and private schools in Puducherry and Karaikal.In the matriculation examinations, Revand R of Petit Seminaire HSS topped the private schools section with 491 marks, while Nivedita R K of St Joseph of Cluny HSS was in the second spot with 488. Three students, Abhinaya V (St Joseph of Cluny HSS), John Kiran J (St Patrick HSS, Saradambal Nagar) and Akhshaya P (St Patrick HSS, Saradambal Nagar) shared the third spot with 485.
