Tomato prices fall

CHENNAI: The price of tomatoes at Koyambedu was slashed on Wednesday to avoid wastage due to rains in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.On Wednesday, tomatoes cost between `10 to 13/kg, while on Tuesday the price was 12-15/kg. Chandran, president of the Vegetable Market Liaison Merchant Association, Koyambedu said, “Our stock of tomatoes comes from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. As rains have begun, stocks, which would otherwise last for two days, will last only a day now.”
