Chennai: Opposition DMK on Monday announced staging state-wide human chain protest on October 5 against the "anti-people" policies of the Jayalalithaa Government. Accusing the ruling AIADMK of making Tamil Nadu a 'dark
continent' due to power cuts, law and order problems and price rise among others, party supporters dressed in black outfit will form the human chain here.
In a resolution adopted by DMK's Executive at an emergency meeting and presided over by its chief M Karunanidhi, the party also slammed "foisting" of cases against its leaders. The Executive criticised power cuts of upto 15 hours in some places, "deteriorating" law and order situation, anti-nuclear protests at Kudankulam and government's way of handling it by using police, last year's hike in bus fares and milk prices, and said ruling AIADMK was pursuing "anti-people policies."
"This Executive resolves to hold a human chain protest on October 5 (with party supporters) wearing black against the AIADMK Government which has failed on all fronts and is pursuing anti-people policies," it said.
