Three drown in temple pond

KOCHI: Three persons drowned in the Thiruvaloor Temple pond near Aluva on Sunday around 5.30 pm. The deceased are identified as Subramanyam Swami, 40, of Kanakadhara House, Thiruvaloor, his relatives Sairaj, 28, a teacher in Bharathi School of Coimbatore, and Hari, 17.Subramanyam was an employee of the ABT Parcel Service in Vazhakkulam.According to the Aluva West Police, the three were taking a bath at the pond when the mishap occurred.“Sairaj and Hari had come over to Subrahmanyam’s house the other day. On Sunday evening, the trio had gone for a bath at the pond. Since they were at the portion of the pond reserved for the Brahmins, the incident came to nobody’s notice. When a relative of one of the victims, who accompanied them to the pond, got panicked upon finding that the trio was missing,” police said.
