FLIR along with their local partners, Chennai Engineering Services and E- Power Engineering, conducted a seminar on thermal imaging technology in the city recently.
The market potential for thermography products, infra-red ray technology and its applications were deliberated at the seminar.
T P Singh, Director (S&M) FLIR India, made a presentation on the topic, highlighting the advantages of the technology over many available options.
“Thermal imaging technology is applicable anywhere since all objects emit infra-red radiations that are invisible to the human eye. The camera create an image from these invisible infra-red radiations and can indicate temperature difference of any object or a particle covered in that image,” he said. Singh added that the thermal imaging technology is widely used in applications including electrical hot spot detection, predictive maintenance and automation among others.
Adding that one can predict the health of an equipment without coming into contact with it, or shutting it down, he said that it makes the technology safer compared to others.
Ravichandaran of Chennai Engineering Services said that this is the technology of the future as it can be used anywhere.
