Sri Palam Silks hostedSilkline ’13, the fourth edition of its annual fashion extravaganza, showcasing over forty pure silk sarees besides its latest range of concept sarees.

A year ago, if you tried convincing your daughter to wear a silk saree, you might have faced stiff resistance and her cribbing about how heavy, uncomfortable and cumbersome they were to wear, especially given the weather we endure.

Cut to twelve months past and we encounter a generous spattering of young women in their twenties accompanying their families to Silkline ’13, the fourth edition of Sri Palam Silks’ annual fashion show displaying the latest trends and fashions from the world of silk.

The three-hour event held at a leading five star hotel in the city, saw a large turnout of the city’s who’s who, witnessing the unveiling of Palam’s latest concept sarees — the freestyle fusion silk which is a saree which can also be worn as a ghagra or a churidhar and the flip style fusion silk which is one saree, but with two completely contrast colours on the front and back of the saree.

These two new concepts add to Palam’s line of 2012 concepts which already include the ultralite fusion silk as well as the hugely popular slim fit silk saree.

Besides the concepts, Sri Palam Silks also unveiled its collection of designer and casual silks along with their signature line of Muhurtham sarees for the upcoming wedding season.

The collection, inspired by Palam’s promise of light, trendy lightweight silks made for a visual delight. The crowd was left especially breathless at the appearance of Billa 2 star, Parvathy Omanakuttan as the showstopper. “We are delighted to be bringing back Silkline in its fourth edition. When we had our first edition three years ago, people were a little perplexed as to why we were hosting a fashion show for sarees.  Today, people at airports and other public places stop me and ask when our next show is! Coming within 10 days of opening our latest store in Jayanagar in Bengaluru, this show definitely is a reflection of our best efforts at sourcing high quality, pure handloom pure zari silk sarees,” commented a visibly delighted Jeyasree Ravi of Sri Palam Silks.

Sri Palam Silks also took the occasion to unveil Silkline, its bi-annual magazine which captures all the happenings of the first half of this year for this fast growing and hugely popular silk saree brand.

The brand has five stores across South India — three in Chennai - Alwarpet, Anna Nagar and T Nagar respectively, one each in Coimbatore’s Cross Cut Road and upmarket Jayanagar in Bangalore.

It also offers customers online shopping from its portal www.palamsilk.com
