BANGALORE: “We believe that the earth is all we have in common and our future depends on how we foster her,” echoed the students of Christ University. They performed a skit on aspiring for a green future and stopping the usage of plastic for a clean environment titled Sankalp. The skit was performed at Gopalan innovation mall and Gopalan arcade and at both the places their performance was very well received and appreciated by people. They highlighted the reason for aspiring towards a green future. While the answer may be elaborate the measures to achieve a green future not only needs strong will power, planned strategies, full force and unwavered implementation but also whole hearted participation from every man on the face of the planet.Over the years unchecked and unregulated mining, deforestation, ever growing urbanisation and industrialisation has resulted in unstabilised landscape, lesser forest covers. And, areas under agriculture and our ecology too have been adversely affected. The diminishing green cover has also disturbed the balance of oxygen and carbondioxide, rainfall pattern and has caused global warming which ofcourse resulted in melting of glaciers and ice bergs thereby causing a rise in sea level, and endangering the existence of low lying islands nation. In fact reduction in green cover is a vicious circle.Trees are poems that earth writes upon the sky; and we fell them down and turn them into paper. That we may record our emptiness.
