Thachankary may settle custodial torture case

ALAPPUZHA: The buzz at the Alappuzha Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Saturday was that the custodial torture case involving former Kannur IG Tomin J Thachankary is likely to be settled out of court. However, sources close to Thachankary denied any such probability.Thachankary appeared before the CJM Court on Saturday in the 16-year-old case related to the custodial torture of Punnappra Prakashan. But hearing in the case was adjourned again, this time because Thachankary’s counsel was not present. The court had earlier adjourned the case to November 5 owing to Prakashan’s absence. It had given a final warning to Prakashan on October 29 for being absent for the previous two hearings.
