TUMKUR: Tumkur police have arrested a gang of three burglars which used to strike at temples across the state to rob the offerings and valuables. This gang always targeted temples which it felt were safe targets. It had covered almost all the north Karnataka districts and entered the south through Tumkur district. The Sira police team led by CPI P Ravi and PSI Prashanth arrested Malli alias Mallappa (51) of Bheemaneri village in Davanagere district, Krishna alias Ajmeer Krishna (33) and Chatrappa Meetyanaika alias Chatrike (24) - both from Gajendraghad village in Gadag district. Valuables, including 40 kg silver, 11 gram gold, 2 motorbikes, three mobiles and `3,000, altogether worth `25 lakh were recovered from the accused.They had committed as many as 30 similar crimes and were convicted for eight years in a case.
