Hyderabad: The infinite strike of municipal workers in state of Telangana has been going on for over eight days and talks with government authorities to resolve the impasse has failed so far. Garbage has piled on the roads creating problems to the residents in Hyderabad.

In Telangana's capital, piled up garbages are causing foul smell.

During the Swachh Telangana campaign, Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao had adopted the Parsigutta area in Secunderabad and had pledged it to keep clean. But as the strike continues, the whole city is getting worse.

"We can't even walk on the roads and the government has not yet came or taken an action", said a resident Sainath.

The strike by the municipal workers demanding an increase in their wages and also demands like health cards, provident funds and the accommodation for them began on July 6.

"We want our salaries to be revised and be at par with others. The government had promised before coming to power and they have failed to do so till now", said Zakir Ahmed, a municipal worker.

Meanwhile the opposition Congress has attacked the government for not taking immediate action.

'The Chief Minister who wants to make Hyderabad a world class city now has turned it into a garbage'', said Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesperson Shravan Kumar.

He also added that the government should immediately fulfil the demands of workers and end the strike.

The state government has spend hundreds of crores in the state as part of cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns but the strike has meant that all efforts have been in vain.
