THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In an effort to identify budding technocrats, Technopark will conduct Tech Top-2011, a two-day innovation competition, for students of engineering colleges from across the country that will start on Friday. The sixth edition of the event will provide a chance for students to display and demonstrate their product prototypes. The winning team will win the ‘Degree C Award’ with a prize money of ` one lakh. All projects selected after final screening shall be eligible for incubation support from Technopark, where they can convert their innovative ideas into a commercial venture, said a press release. This year, 216 teams from 14 states participated in the preliminary round, out of which 58 teams were selected. From this, 19 teams were shortlisted to demonstrate their projects in the two-day event. The event is jointly organised by Degree Controls Inc, with the support of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Executive Knowledge Lines. G Madhavan Nair, former chairman of ISRO, will inaugurate the event at 9.30 am on Friday at the Travancore hall, Technopark. Chief Secretary P Prabhakaran will be the chief guest for the valedictory at 3.30 pm on Saturday at the same venue.
