An 11-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her school teacher in Kandivali, Mumbai. The Class 7 student reported the incident to school authorities on Wednesday.
According to an NDTV report, the girl told her principal that the teacher had inappropriately touched her. The principal then informed her parents, who contacted the police and filed a complaint.
The incident reportedly took place in July. Based on the girl’s statement, the police have registered a case against the teacher under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police have summoned the teacher to record his statement, and CCTV footage is being reviewed for evidence.
