THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A surprise security drive at the Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station on Friday yielded Rs 66,213 as fine for ticket-less travel.In all, 221 cases of ticket-less travel were detected, according to the Thiruvananthapuram Division of the Railway. The comprehensive security drive was conducted between 7 am and 11 am involving the Railway Police and ticket-checking staff, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the dog squad of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in order to ensure better security to the travelling public.A contract bed-roll supplier of the Rajadhani Express was arrested for the possession of 3.5 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, which was in nine bottles. An investigation has been launched into the involvement of pantry car staff and other employees of the Rajadhani Express. A case has been registered against the bed-roll supplier under the Kerala Abkari Act.Fifteen other people were also arrested and prosecuted by the RPF for other minor offences detected during the drive. K J Joy, Divisional Security Commissioner, RPF, led the drive. A total of 104 RPF officials, 20 GRP officials and 32 ticket-checking staff were mobilised for the drive. Luggage was also screened using the X-Ray scanner at the railway station, Railway officials said.
