The Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd has recorded a growth rate of 35 per cent during the Onam-Ramzan season compared to the same period last year. The corporation recorded a sales turnover of `332 crore in the season.
The Supplyco Onam fairs were started in July and were operational for 48 days. As many as 1500 Supplyco Onam People’s Bazars, Onam markets and mini fairs functioned during the season. Apart from Onam fairs mobile Maveli store units were also operational. Around 8,000 items were sold through them at a discounted rate of 10 per cent from the prevailing market prices, an official communication from the corporation stated.
Around 13 items, including pulses and spices were made available at 50 per cent discount. Free Onam kits were distributed to the BPL families and migrant workers in the state. The corporation said that around two crore customers were benefited from these fairs.
