State team for science meet

KOCHI: A 12 member delegation from Kerala left for Kolkata on Thursday to attend the National Scientific Conference organised by the Breakthrough Science Society.
The conference is being held as part of the National Year of Chemistry which also marks the centenary of Nobel Prize achievement of Madame Curie and the formation of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).Kolkata is home to Prafula Chandra Roy, the father of Indian chemistry, and the 150th birth anniversary of Roy falls this year. His book on the 'History of Hindu chemistry' will be discussed at the conference.
