New Delhi: Sony Mobile India has confirmed that its Xperia S handset is going to hit the Indian market on April 10. This is Sony's first smartphone under its brand name Sony Mobile Communications, after Sony acquired Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson's ("Ericsson") 50 per cent stake in the pair's former joint venture Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB ("Sony Ericsson").

The phone was first showcased at Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year. It features a 4.3 inch scratch-resistant TFT touchscreen. The phone runs Google Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating syst (upgradable to Android 4, Ice Cream Sandwich).

The phone is expected to be priced around Rs 32,000.

The company is also running a promotion, and it claims to offer free accessories worth Rs 4,000 with the phone.
