SRIKAKULAM: Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Union government on thermal power plants has recommended to Union Environment Ministry that it may rescind its order issued to East Coast Energy Private Limited on March 1 to stop its work for the proposed thermal power plant in Sompeta of Srikakulam district.At a meeting held in New Delhi on May 2 and 3, EAC chairman VP Raja said no purpose could be solved by prohibiting the project as it would prevent them from preparing rehabilitation and recruitment package and constructing culverts which would help in checking inundation.Following police firing on protesters, environment ministry had ordered to stop the construction work.Meanwhile, president of Bhavanapadu Thermal Vyatireka Porata Samithi M Narasinga Rao said they would restart the movement if the firm restarts the plant work.
