Somdev loses to Benneteau at Eastbourne
Devvarman was down a match-point in the second set but came back to level the match from there.

New Delhi: Somdev Devvarman crashed out in the second round of the singles draw of the Eastbourne tournament to Frenchman Julien Benneteau in three sets 6-7, 7-6, 3-6 on Thursday.

Devvarman was down a match-point in the second set but came back to level the match from there. But he ran out of steam in the final set to lose the match.

The Indian also lost the men's doubles opener partnered by Mark Knowles.

The tournament which is a preparing ground for the Wimbledon Championships saw the Indian challenge extinguish with the likes of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul Haq Qureshi and Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina all losing in the early stages of the draw.
